2023 Syrah Dozen - Warramate

Medal One
Medal Two

Fragrant violets and mixed plum fruits make for an elegant and fragrant wine, gently fruitful with a smoky charcuterie interest entwined with a pink peppercorn spice element. An elegant style reflecting its cool climate origins, its medium bodied weight, a cool undercurrent of red and blue fruits, a glossy palate, richly layered is supported by some stalk tannin structure.

Winemaking

The majority of fruit was destemmed gently to retain many whole berries to a series of small 600kg fermenters. Half of the wine had 20% whole bunch inclusion which brings a fruit succulence and a stalk lift to the nose and a welcome tannin presence to the palate. Hand plunged gently to aid in the gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tactile palate components. Maturation time in barrel was 15 months prior to bottling. A mixture of oak size, 100% French with only 10% new barrels for a subtle influence.
